The Taj Mahal, one of the most famous and most photographed buildings in the world, is also the most important site in the ancient city of Agra. It is the mausoleum of Shah Jahan’s favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum was completed in 1653. It is constructed from marble blocks and per our guide (a professor in history at the Agra University) took approximately 20000 workers including masons and jewelers to complete.
